An almost elegiac spin around the decommissioned Space Shuttle Discovery. Something especially final feeling with the insulated port baffles (or whatever they’re called, snapped into place.
- Lots of buttons. Lots and lots of buttons. Also, this is what every man-boy in the world wished the inside of his car looked like.
- Slowly browse through and note the adaptations that the astronauts made to make the flight deck more useable. Velcro squares on the ceiling, tape over a bank of switches not to be used. Pieces of red gaff tape with markings. Humans flew this machine.
- Wonder if you were to fire up the Dell Inspiron laptop bolted into the Flight Engineer’s workstation if you’d find a half-finished game of Minesweeper? Something in me really hopes so.
